Illinois :: Amended UCC Forms

Springfield, Illinois - State Capitol

Beginning on July 1, 2013, a majority of states across the nation will begin enforcing the 2010 Amendments to Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Article 9. Many states plan to allow a grace period during which the current UCC forms will still be accepted; however, this is not the case in all states. According to a notice on the Illinois Secretary of State website, effective July 1, 2013, the amended UCC forms must be used or the filings will be rejected. Furthermore, the notice explains that using the new UCC forms before the effective date will also lead to the rejection of your documents. Bottom line, make sure you are using the right form at the time of filing, or your documents will be rejected.
